Sky Capsule tickets drop every Tuesday 07:00 KST, four weeks ahead, and go in minutes

• Tickets release every Tuesday at 07:00 KST, about four weeks ahead, and sell out in minutes. Mipo → Cheongsapo is the scenic direction and the harder one to get; Cheongsapo → Mipo is the easier booking but the wrong way round for a sunset
• Book the moment the window opens. For New Year’s Eve that is Tuesday 8 December 2026, 07:00 KST — 06:00 in Singapore. Reminders are set for the day before, an hour before and ten minutes before
• One capsule per booking, and you cannot board at a station you did not book. The ride is ₩50,000 per capsule for two, about 30 min, one way, and it is on no pass at all
• If the capsule is gone, the Beach Train (₩10,000–16,000 each, on the Busan Pass) is the fallback, and the 16:10 bus to Mipo still works — you would just watch the sunset from Cheongsapo rather than ride into it

New Year’s Eve: getting home from Gwangalli is the real problem

• The normal last Line 2 train from Gwangan toward Haeundae leaves about 00:20 — far too early to be useful after a midnight countdown
• Busan extends Lines 1–4 by up to two hours for New Year. On NYE 2025–26 that put Gwangan → Jangsan at 02:10, with Haeundae en route, 38 min. But the announcement only lands around 28–30 December, so it cannot be assumed for this New Year
• Confirm it on 28–30 December. If it is not extended, the fallbacks are a night bus, waiting for the first train at about 05:30, or booking one night in a Gwangalli hotel walkable from the bridge
• Either way, the journey is on the metro or a bus — there is no road-car leg anywhere in this trip, and midnight on New Year’s Eve is the worst possible night to need one

Jagalchi Market itself is If-time, not a must — it is a working fish market and a lot of it is tourist-facing. The live-squid meal is the reason to make the trip west, and Gukje and BIFF sit on the walk between the two, so they cost nothing extra.

The afternoon is deliberately unscheduled: Haeundae Beach and the market are five minutes from the hotel, so they absorb whatever the morning leaves. The drone show is the only reason this day touches Gwangalli twice — it is flagged optional, not silently scheduled.

• 08:15 Leave Toyoko Inn. Bus 1003 + Line 1, 59 min door to door to Busan Station, in by about 09:15 — a 75-minute buffer before the train, on metro and bus the whole way. Breakfast is included at the hotel, so eat before you go
• 10:30 KTX Busan → Seoul, about 2h34, arriving Seoul Station ~13:04. Book 3–4 weeks out; the New Year period sells out

• Gyeongbokgung closes every Tuesday, and 5 January is a Tuesday — so the palace takes 6 January instead

• You asked for Lotte World and the ski day not to be back-to-back; the 6 January palace day sits between them
• The dates give Seoul one extra full day, and it lands on 4 January as a free day — the best possible gift for a food-and-café trip

• The palace closes every Tuesday, all year. Tuesday 5 January is a Seoul day, so the palace cannot sit there — this is a hard calendar constraint, not a preference
• That is why the palace day is Wednesday 6 January, and why 5 January is Lotte World at Jamsil instead. The shut day is spent indoors, in the warm, which is the better trade in January anyway
• One exception worth knowing: when the Tuesday itself is a public holiday the palace opens on the Tuesday and closes the following day instead. 5 January 2027 is not a public holiday
• Wearing hanbok is the free pass — rent near the gate, 11 min from Chungmuro to Gwanghwamun

7 JanThuski

Bring cash: a helmet is ₩10,000 and mandatory, plus goggles, gloves and knee/hip pads — budget ₩55,000 per person on top of the tour. None of it is ever bundled, on any operator.

One adjacency that could not be removed

• Lotte World (5 Jan) and skiing (7 Jan) are separated by the palace day on the 6th, as you asked
• But skiing and Nami Island are back-to-back — the 7th and the 8th. Three full-day tours inside six days means two have to touch somewhere
• If you would rather break it up, the free day on the 4th is the only real slot: move Nami there and Hongdae’s BBQ evening moves to the 8th

Cost math

Re-solved for Spa Land + SEA LIFE + the Sky Capsule, with AREX priced separately and the post-merger ₩54,400 KTX fare. Three things fell out, and two are counter-intuitive.

The three answers

• Busan Pass: skip it. SEA LIFE is only 30% off on the Pass, not free — so the Pass delivers just ₩35,600 against BIG3's ₩45,000. It loses ₩9,400
• 3-day Climate Card: no. Charged on 4 Jan it comes to ₩20,950 of Seoul+AREX spend — near the 7-day's ₩20,000, but it leaves 3 Jan uncovered. The 5-day at ₩22,750 is the worst of the three
• The K-Tour free entry has to go on SEA LIFE. Spa Land is not on the K-Tour list — the correction costs ₩1,800

AREX — priced on its own, not with local transport

• The arrival ride is halved by the K-Tour Pass (50% off, capped at ₩6,000), so the all-stop costs ₩2,375 instead of ₩4,750
• The 9 Jan return leg is free — it ends at Incheon Airport, which the 7-day Climate Card covers
• That is why AREX no longer sits in the local-transport line: it is its own bookable cost, and the pass changes it

Which attraction the K-Tour entry can actually be spent on

Correction — my earlier claim was impossible

• I said to spend the free entry on Spa Land. Spa Land is not on the K-Tour list.
• Checked against the official VisitKorea list of 35 free-use attractions — it is not there. You were right to push back
• Of everything you want in Busan, only SEA LIFE qualifies; the Sky Capsule is on no list at all
• So the entry goes on SEA LIFE (₩32,000 gate) and you pay for Spa Land at ₩24,200
• Net effect of the correction: +₩1,800 per person, about S$1.70

• Lotte World Busan — free day pass. Add this and the Busan Pass arithmetic flips back in its favour
• Songdo Marine Cable Car — free round trip

The Climate Card — every duration costed

Seoul is seven days now (3–9 Jan), not six. That changes which pass is right.

A double-count this uncovered

• The Costs tab was budgeting S$60 for “local transit, 10 days” and a Climate Card on top
• The S$60 already included Seoul — which the pass then paid for a second time
• Corrected: Busan is four days unpassed at about S$24; Seoul is the pass at S$19.05
• That is S$43.05 of local transport, not S$74.29 — it was over-budgeted by S$31.24

The uniform trap

• Two-step redemption is mandatory
• Step 1: collect physical paper tickets at the Group Ticket Counter
• Step 2: take those to the uniform shop
• They reject mobile e-tickets at the uniform desk
• There's no entry-only ticket any more — everyone buys the full pass

The trap in every beginner package

• The package gives you the moving walk, not the chairlift. The chairlift is a paid upgrade on both resorts
• That is fine — as a first-timer you will spend the day on the beginner slope anyway
• Goggles, helmet and gloves are never included on either

Season caveat — read before booking

• Every live listing is still 2025–26. The 2026–27 season opens around late November to early December 2026
• Expect prices similar to slightly higher. Watch for early-bird release around October 2026
• Both resorts make snow, so early January is the most reliable window of the season
• Going DIY to Elysian? Book the ITX-Cheongchun reserved seat ~48h ahead

Nami Island day tour

• Full day from Seoul — roughly 10–12 hours door to door
• Most tours bundle Nami with one or two extra stops
• Common pairings: Garden of Morning Calm, Railbike, strawberry picking, Petite France, Alpaca World
• Strawberry picking is winter-seasonal — check the winter variant, not the summer listing
• Cheapest real bundle: S$43–48 — the line in Costs uses S$48.03

Read this before trusting the numbers

• Trip.com prices were extracted live today — per package, inclusions spelled out
• Klook and KKday block automated price checks — DataDome and Cloudflare walls
• Their figures below are headline "from" prices, not verified per package
• A "from" price is usually the shuttle-only or ticket-only tier — not the full package
• So treat Klook/KKday as indicative and confirm the tier you actually want

Ski — Vivaldi Park, full package

• Cheapest: Klook — but only if your chosen tier includes the lift pass, which is often a paid upgrade
• Trip.com's is the clearest — it names every inclusion, at the highest price
• Shuttle-only, if you want to buy lift and gear yourself: Klook from S$14, KKday S$22, Trip.com S$25
• Holiday surcharge applies 31 Dec and 1–3 Jan — you're in Busan then, so you dodge it
• KKday's Vivaldi listing needs a minimum of 4 people — you're 2, so it may cancel

Nami Island, bundled

• Best value: KKday, then Klook — Trip.com runs 25–50% more for the same stops
• KKday also has the cheapest headline anywhere: S$23 for a Nami-only bus tour (minimal tier)
• Winter-specific bundle worth knowing: KKday 9353 — Eobi Ice Valley + Light Festival + Nami + Alpaca + Railbike at S$70. This is the one built for your dates
• Eobi Ice Valley opens from about 20 December; the Garden of Morning Calm lighting festival runs mid-Dec to mid-March
• Strawberry picking is seasonal — December to February, so it is available to you

Cancellation — this is the real differentiator

• Trip.com: best. Free cancellation until 10:00 the day before, then 100% fee. No partial refunds
• Klook: good. Free date change up to 48 hours before on the Nami tour
• KKday: strictest. Usually free cancellation only up to 2 days prior
• Deep winter means weather can kill a ski day — Trip.com's 10:00-the-day-before window is worth paying a premium for

Transit passes

You already hold both Climate Cards and T-money cards — which flips the answer on the Seoul pass.

Seoul — Climate Card, short-term pass

• Covers Seoul subway and Seoul-licensed buses. Sinbundang Line and GTX are excluded
• Valid for trips ending at Incheon Airport — so your airport run is covered
• But the airport train it covers is the all-stop at ₩4,750, not the express at ₩13,000
• Validity starts the day you charge it, and you cannot charge in advance
• The 30-day Climate Card was discontinued 1 October 2026; short-term passes survived. The successor "Climate Pass" is residents-only, so it is not for you

Busan — no Climate Card equivalent exists

• Busan Metro 1-day pass — ₩5,000–6,000. Metro Lines 1–4 only: no buses, no airport light rail, no Donghae Line. Pays off from about four rides
• Busan Metro 3-day pass — ₩12,500–13,000, same restrictions
• Subway fare is ₩1,600 by card, so four rides (₩6,400) beats the day pass — barely

What to actually buy

Busan Pass — skip it

Corrected: SEA LIFE is 30% off the Pass, not free. That kills it.

Why it loses

• Spa Land is genuinely free on the Pass — that is ₩26,000 of value
• SEA LIFE is only 30% off, worth ₩9,600. I previously said it was free — that was wrong, and the official Pass page says "30% off on admission tickets"
• Total delivered: ₩35,600. The cheapest tier reaching both is BIG3 at ₩45,000
• Every tier loses: BIG3 −₩9,400, 24H −₩19,400, BIG5 −₩29,400, 48H −₩49,400
• The Sky Capsule is on the Pass neither — only the Beach Train is, and the Capsule is the thing you want
• Buy the three tickets separately. Revisit only if you add two more paid attractions

Spa Land vs the three free K-Tour spas

Researched across Reddit, Xiaohongshu and the official Busan tourism portal. The verdict is not the obvious one.

The single most useful finding

• Spa Land's own critics complain it is crowded and not the authentic experience — one Trip.com writer advised choosing "a more authentic and less crowded jjimjilbang" instead
• A Busan local on r/busan says he "once had to queue for over an hour" to get in
• You are travelling over New Year, the busiest week of the year. If it queues an hour in April, assume worse in early January
• Hill Spa is the direct antidote — same Haeundae area, open 24/7, 1,600 pyeong, capacity 850, sea view, and free on your K-Tour entry
• So the free entry has a genuinely good option, not merely a cost-efficient one

Spa Land Centum City

• What it is: the largest jjimjilbang in Busan. Fifteen natural hot spring baths plus outdoor foot baths drawn from 1,000 m underground
• Third floor has restaurants, a café, hammocks, massage chairs and lounge chairs with built-in TVs
• Free for 4 hours on the Visit Busan Pass — which you are not buying, so it is ₩24,200 online or ₩26,000 at the door
• Centum City station, Line 2, exit 12. The entrance is between the Prada and Dior boutiques — easy to walk past
• Positives: Xiaohongshu calls it 釜山汗蒸天花板 — literally "the ceiling of Busan jjimjilbang". A Busan local on r/busan recommends it by name. No swimsuit needed; spa clothes are provided
• Negatives: the crowd. A Reddit user queued over an hour. The Trip.com "why I regretted it" piece says the popularity is the problem and a smaller jjimjilbang gives "a completely different experience"
• It is only 5 minutes from Haeundae on Line 2 — three stops. I previously said 40 minutes; that was wrong, and it was the main argument against it

Hill Spa — the sleeper pick

• What it is: a sauna and jjimjilbang in Haeundae with a sea view, per the official Visit Busan tourism portal
• Open 24 hours, 7 days — the only one of the four you can walk into at 1am after a long day
• 1,600 pyeong, capacity 850 people at once. Enormous, so crowds spread out
• Five minutes from Haeundae beach — near your hotel, unlike Spa Land
• Free 4-hour ticket on the K-Tour Pass
• The honest caveat: almost no international reviews. Trip.com notes "0 travel guides for HILL SPA have been added"; a Xiaohongshu search for its name returned Singapore and Vietnam spas instead
• So it is a locals' place with no tourist buzz — either exactly what you want, or a gamble, depending on your appetite for an unknown

Club D Oasis — not what the name suggests

• It is a water park, not a traditional jjimjilbang. Klook lists it as "CLUBD OASIS Spa & Water Park", 4.3 from 173 reviews, 10K+ booked, 3–4 hours
• Hidden costs. A Reddit reviewer: "after entry fees there were more things to pay for which I didn't anticipate". Korean water parks make you buy a swim cap and rent a life vest
• Reviews are lukewarm: "crowded and lines for slides were long — there are only 2". The lazy river "doesn't have flowing water", and the wave pool "isn't really big enough to produce full waves"
• But: "the infinity pool and outdoor hinoki spa were the highlights", and it has "an incredible view"
• A Busan local: "Club D has a nice outdoor hinoki bath with a cafe, but the actual sauna area isn't extraordinary"
• A water park in early January is the wrong season for most of it — only the hinoki bath and infinity pool make sense in the cold

Hotel Aqua Palace — the Gwangalli option

• A jjimjilbang and seawater hot spring spa with views over Gwangalli Beach and Gwangan Bridge
• Free sauna and jjimjilbang ticket on the K-Tour Pass
• At Gwangalli — where you will already be on New Year's Eve, so it can attach to that evening rather than costing a separate trip

Haeundae Sky Capsule — book this one early

KTX

• Seoul ↔ Busan round trip ₩119,600 per person
• Skip the KR Pass — ₩131,000, more than singles on this loop
• Book 3–4 weeks ahead; New Year is peak
• For 30 Dec, book a departure after 12:30 to allow for the flight

Hanbok

• Rental ₩9,900–₩32,000; typically ₩15,000–₩20,000 for 2 hours
• Hanbok wearers enter Gyeongbokgung free
• No need to book far ahead — plenty of shops by the palace

• Seoul's big NYE events are at Bosingak (Jonggak), DDP and Lotte World Tower
• You're in Busan 30 Dec – 3 Jan, so you miss all of them
• Your NYE is Gwangalli — bridge lights and beach bars. Not the drone show: that runs Saturdays only, and 31 Dec is a Thursday
• Also Haeundae's winter illuminations, running to about 18 Jan
• The Seoul ones become available only if you flip the city order

Where the sources disagree

Genuinely useful, because it tells you which advice is culture-specific.

• Myeongdong is the big split. Chinese social and Western guides both centre it; younger Chinese independent travellers now deliberately skip it for Majangdong and Mangwondong
• Cafés are judged differently. Chinese social ranks by view and photogenicity; Western sources rank by coffee quality
• Gwangjang is both top pick and top trap. Reddit's most-recommended and Instagram's #1, while Reddit's own "skip" list calls it a tourist trap with overpriced portions
• Chinese chains — Haidilao, Chagee, Heytea, Mixue — are Chinese-visitor favourites and near-absent from Western guides. You're Malaysian, so this is probably not your priority
• Chinese social now warns about itself. Several posts flag 网红店 as traps, and one travelogue says it stopped following XHS food recs entirely

Skip list

Named as overhyped by the sources themselves, not by me.

• Jagalchi Market — "extremely overpriced". Snow crab at ₩250,000+. Go for the photos, not the meal (now demoted to if-time)
• Gwangjang Market food — "tourist trap, scam central", hygiene investigations. Go for photos, eat at Mangwon or Tongin
• Myeongdong street food — tourist food at tourist prices; not where locals eat. The area is fine to stay in
• Born & Bred (Seoul hanwoo) — "pure hype", exorbitant. Get hanwoo elsewhere, e.g. Majangdong
• The Bay 101 — Haeundae, overpriced and mediocre
• N Seoul Tower — crowded and pricey; only worth it on a crystal-clear day
• NUDAKE — visually stunning, consistently criticised for price and average taste
• Cafe Yeonnam-dong 239-20 (the 2D cartoon café) — fun photo, mediocre drinks, 60-min waits, 1-hour limits
• Dadaepo Beach — the one genuinely summer-leaning pick. Skip unless it's clear and mild
• Cheongsapo rooftops — views are real but the terraces are unusable in winter wind. Sit indoors
• Lotte World — appears on the "crowded and touristy" lists. You're going anyway, and that's fine

Winter notes

• Late Dec–early Jan: roughly −5 to +5 °C, wind-driven. Seoul colder than Busan
• Cold snaps can hit −10 to −18 °C. Down jackets, not coats
• Hotteok and bungeoppang carts are winter-only — many shut in summer. This is your season for them
• Strawberry and citrus desserts peak in Korean winter — fruit mochi and strawberry cakes are at their best now
• 1 Jan: restaurants and shops mostly open, unlike Japan. Museums and attractions keep their own schedules
• Lunar New Year is 6–9 Feb — outside your window, so no mass closures to plan around
• Covered markets are the winter answer: Gwangjang, Jagalchi, Gukje — warm, cheap, dense
